Nancy Wilson and Maisie Richardson

Nancy Wilson was born 20th February 1937 in Chillicothe. She was the daughter of Olden Wilson, a ironworker and Lillian Ryan (a former housemaid). Nancy was the first of six children. Nancy was a child who listened to her dad's records and his passion for music. As a young girl, she already had the impression of her identity and what she wanted to do. The choir at church encouraged her to develop her talent. The show was on television when she 15 and began being a regular on the tv program Skyline Melodies while still in high school. Around the same time, she began to work in nightclubs. Nancy was just 17 when she finished high school. After attending Ohio Central State College - now Central State University - for one term, Nancy quit to become an experienced performer. The first album she recorded was in 1956 by Rusty Bryant's Carolyn Club Big Band. The band performed with her throughout 1956 and 1957. Nancy released her debut recording on Dot Records during the time she was with the group. Cannonball Adderley told her to move in New York to further her professional career. She moved there to The Big Town at the end of the year 1959. After just a few days, Adderley's manager was impressed by her voice and hired her. His agent signed her with Capitol in the year 1960. Her debut was that year. Guess Who You Saw Today. Capitol Records released 5 Nancy Wilson albums over a two-year period. She began by focusing on R&B and then, with Adderley's influence, she embraced jazz. Their collaboration in 1962 with Nancy Wilson and Cannonball Adderley helped propel her to fame and she had her breakout smash Tell Me the Truth in 1963. Her first job was in New York's Coconut Grove nightclub, America's top nightclub.

She portrayed Michal who was the daughter of King Saul in the ABC's biblical series Of Kings and Prophets.
