Nancy Wilson and Maisie Richardson

Nancy Wilson was born 20th February 1937 in Chillicothe. She was the daughter of Olden Wilson, a ironworker, as well as Lillian Ryan (a former housemaid). Nancy was the eldest of six children. Nancy loved listening to her dad's records and his passion for music. As young as four an age, she realized she would be a singer. Her talent developed by her involvement in the church choir. Cannonball addederley recommended that she relocate in New York for her career after which she made the move into The Big Town. Within one month, she got a job singing at The Blue Morocco Night Club on Boston Road in The Bronx which was where her agent was introduced to her, and she was signed. It was a contract with Capitol Records in 1960. The year was 1960 when she made her debut with. Guess Who Saw Today. Her records were successful and Capitol issued 5 Nancy Wilson albums in two years. In the era of Adderley Wilson's leadership, Wilson started focusing on R&B and then shifted her focus to jazz and torch music. Nancy Wilson and Cannonball Adderley joined forces in 1962 and helped push her up in the chart. The year 1963 was when she achieved her biggest hit through Tell Me the Truth. Following that year, she was invited to perform at the New York's Coconut Grove, the most sought-after nightclub in America.
